As a hybrid, the Sorento sometimes runs on gas and electricity. The choice is yours, but we recommend following the manufacturer's suggested usage for gas and electricity to maximize the vehicle's distance between fills and charges. The Sorento Hybrid models all have a 1.6-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a whole parallel hybrid system. The electric motor offers 59 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque. Compare that with the horsepower of 227 and a combined 258 pound-feet of torque.
The Sorento Hybrid is an all-wheel-drive vehicle with vectoring to keep all four tires on the road. Shifting isn't an issue, as it has a six-speed automatic transmission. While the traditional gas-powered Kia Sorento can tow up to 3,500 pounds, the hybrid models can only tow up to 2,000 pounds.
From the solar control glass on the windows to the sound-absorbing windshield, the interior of the Sorento hybrids is all about comfort. There are three rows of seats, with the third row having the ability to split fold 50/50 to give your cargo hold more room. If you build your own Sorento hybrid, you can choose between the two captain's chairs for the second row or the same 50/50 split-fold bench seat the third row has. Heated front-row seats are available regardless of trim level. Still, other features like ventilated seats and heated second-row and third-row seats are only available at the SX Prestige trim level.
If you are still deciding whether to buy a Kia Sorento hybrid, the technology features may change your mind. The 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display comes standard with built-in navigation, and the SX Prestige trim level also has a 12.3-inch curved instrument display. Remote start, Kia Connect services, and wireless charging are all standard on all models. If you download and use the Kia Connect app on your smartphone, you can pre-cool or pre-heat your Kia Sorento hybrid remotely, ensuring that your vehicle is at the perfect temperature when you climb in.
Kia has put many safety issues into the Sorento hybrid as standard. Blind spot collision warning plus parallel exit, blind spot collision avoidance, and blind spot monitor are all on board to avoid sideways collisions. Forward collision avoidance assists with detections for cyclists, pedestrians, and junction turning, and it is available on all models. Additional forward collision avoidance assists detections for direct oncoming traffic and lane change to the side, only available on the SX Prestige. Park distance warnings from the front, rear, and rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist features are standard on all models. Many more safety features are built to help you avoid accidents at all costs.
The SX Prestige has experienced minor shipping delays but is expected to arrive soon at Liberty Kia. As for the EX, we have several in our new inventory lot.
