The Kia Sportage stands out from the competition thanks to its comfortable ride quality, spacious seating, and massive cargo area. Couple that with some appealing technology features and advanced driver aids, and you have a crossover that you'll love for many years to come. With the 2024 model due out soon, we want to review what you can expect from the upcoming vehicle.
What’s New for 2024?
Last year, Kia completely redesigned the Sportage model, giving it plenty of cabin and cargo space, a stylish design, new technology, and the ability to travel off-road. They even introduced hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants giving drivers more power and efficiency options.
Given its recent redesign, few changes, if any, are expected for the 2024 model year.
Performance
Since no major changes are expected for the new Kia Sportage, drivers will still find the same engine under the hood that powered last year's model. Available on every trim will be a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that outputs 187 horsepower, 178 lb.-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard and is a front-wheel drive, though all-wheel drive is an option.
According to the EPA, models outfitted with front-wheel drivers are expected to get an estimated 25 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Though with all-wheel drive equipped, those numbers change to 23 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.
Interior
If any changes are made to the 2024 model, we expect they'll be found in the cabin. But at current, no information is available.
With that in mind, current models offer a unique interior design highlighted by a huge digital display. The center console boasts a rotary shift knob, a push-to-start button, and a myriad of other controls that blend into the dash.
Along with a two-tone color scheme or an all-black look, the cabin has more rear-seat legroom than other models. With all the seats folded up, the Sportage offers plenty of room to store luggage and other gear at 40 cubic feet of pace. For even more versatility, there's also a dual-level cargo floor.
Technology
On the technological side of things, the Sportage comes standard with plenty of desirable features. These include a standard eight-inch touchscreen display along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All models also come with a digital gauge display.
Those who wish for a larger monitor can purchase the optional 12.3 inches unit that provides more features and crisper graphics. Regardless of the monitor you get, below the center console is a second touchscreen that controls the climate system and the stereo.
Additional features include a Harman/Kardon stereo, a wireless phone charger, and a subscription-based Wi-Fi hotspot.
Safety
Coming is last year's redesign, was a slew of standard and optional driver-assistance technology, and we expect the same to carry over to the 2024 model year. These safety features include everything from navigation-based adaptive cruise control and a remote parking feature to a camera-based blind-spot monitor and a surround-view camera system.
